Playlists are a premium feature on Spotify

Random playback

Play songs with random playback. This function is ideal for long playlists and provides variety when listening to music.

You can activate random playback for all playlists, albums or artist profiles.

  1. Click on "Shuffle" in the "Now Playing" bar at the bottom .
  2. The order of the songs to be played has now been rearranged.
    Tip: Do you want to see what has changed? Then take a look at the queue.
  3. Click the icon again to turn off random playback. The songs will now be played back in their original order.

Android: tap RANDOM PLAYBACK.

iOS: tap .

Spotify Premium subscribers can also control random playback from the Now Playing bar:

  1. At the bottom of the screen, tap the Now Playing bar (above the menu bar).
    Note: On a tablet, tap the album cover from the side menu.
  2. Tap the shuffle icon to activate the function.
  3. The order of the songs to be played has now been rearranged.
    Tip: Do you want to see what has changed? Then take a look at the queue.
  4. Tap the icon again to turn off shuffle. The songs will now be played back in their original order.

Is random playback the only way to play music?

No. If you have Spotify Premium, you can always play exactly the music you want to hear most at the moment. Choose any song from a playlist or album, or play the first song and Spotify will automatically play the rest of the songs in the order listed. You can also choose to play it randomly.

Don't have Spotify Premium?

If you use Spotify's free service, you can randomly listen to any playlist or select songs in playlists that do not have this icon:
