The Marvel Cinematic Universe has now been around for twelve years and since then the cinema universe with an impressive 23 films has given us a huge number of screen superheroes: From Iron Man to Thor and Hulk to Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel and, and, and.

After Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, we've updated our list of key characters and asked ourselves the question: Who is the most powerful superhero of them all?

And before you pound your keyboard furiously at the sight of our ranking: Of course, the strength comparisons are not one hundred percent scientifically correct and unambiguous and should always be viewed with a wink. In addition, we provide you with a reason for each hero, why he or she ended up on the respective place.

more on the subject

Wait a minute, someone is missing here!
You recognized that correctly: In fact, the MCU characters Bucky Barnes, The Wasp, Quicksilver, Mantis, Nebula and Nick Fury are still missing in this ranking, at least for the moment. But don't worry: in the course of our next update we will also include these superheroes in our top list. In the meantime, you can tell us in the comments in which position you would like to see them.

# 20: Rocket Raccoon

Occupation: Bradley Cooper (voice), Sean Gunn (motion capture)

Occurs in:

Skills: Genetic experiments improved senses and vital instincts; very intelligent and inventive; tech-savvy; Weapons and escape specialist; increased strength and endurance for its size

Small but mighty: Rocket Raccoon from the Guardians of the Galaxy. Image source: Disney / Marvel Studios

In this place because: Rocket is incredibly intelligent, quick-witted and skilled in handling weapons. Despite his pronounced inventive talent and talent for tinkering, he has no superpowers - but an excellent connection to his Guardians-of-the-Galaxy colleague Groot.

Since he would have difficulties climbing the podium with his height of 1.22 meters anyway, he only qualified for the last place in our ranking. Would the Rocket offend? Probably not - given his arrogance.

# 19: Clint Barton a.k.a. Hawk Eye

Occupation: Jeremy Renner

Occurs in:

Skills: Trained Soldier and Shield Agent; Reluctant leader; good pilot; excellent sniper and weapons specialist; especially practiced with bow and arrow

If Hawkeye had a superpower, it would be that he would never run out of arrows. Image source: Disney / Marvel Studios

In this place because: Hawkeye is something like the Hawkeye of the Avengers ... Wait a minute, this is Hawkeye ?! In the end, Clint Barton is the guy who comes to the gunfight with a bow and arrow - but emerges victorious. Nevertheless, Hawkeye cannot get rid of his rather bad than right reputation, although he has repeatedly proven his skills as an Avenger and even a leader.

# 18: Natasha Romanoff a.k.a. Black Widow

Occupation: Scarlett Johansson

Occurs in:

Skills: Trained as an assassin from childhood; almost superhumanly quick reflexes; acrobatic; brilliant hacker; talented in the arts of deception and confusion

It was high time: Black Widow is finally getting her solo film ... but at the moment the question arises when it will be released in the cinemas. Image source: Disney / Marvel Studios

In this place because: Natasha Romanoff is a Russian assassin who, with the help of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and her Shield colleague Hawkeye, committed herself to goodness. With her tricks, deceptions and gadgets, she can undoubtedly defend herself against her Avengers colleagues - but would there even be a direct confrontation? Probably not as long as the spy keeps pulling herself out of the affair.

# 17: Sam Wilson a.k.a. The Falcon

Occupation: Anthony Mackie

Occurs in:

Skills: Trained soldier and parachutist; Special equipment: Exo-7 Falcon - a jetpack with wings; Glasses with microscope and telescope view; two submachine guns

Steve Rogers selected Sam Wilson as his successor. A complete TV series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is dedicated to the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Image source: Disney / Marvel Studios

In this place because: Falcon also has no superhuman abilities to fly and attack from the air, but gives him a decisive advantage over Black Widow and Hawkeye. Whether he could compete with the two of them in a fight is another question.

After Avengers: Endgame, Sam Wilson will follow in the footsteps of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) as Captain America. His hawk wings and Captain America's shield should make a promising combination.

# 16: Peter Quill a.k.a. Star Lord

Occupation: Chris Pratt

Occurs in:

Skills: gifted pilot, marksman and melee; his skills as a dancer are unparalleled and have already brought many a mad warmonger to their knees; Related to a »Celestial« - but Peter lost his superpowers when he murdered his father Ego (Kurt Russell).

Peter Quill insisted on readjusting the face of the "insane titan" Thanos. Whether that was a good idea remains to be seen. Image source: Disney / Marvel Studios

In this place because: Star-Lord would probably find himself much higher on this list, if he didn't talk about it regularly or if his heated temper became his undoing.

And then there would be his superpowers, which equal those of a god - or came: In the course of Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 he obtained these powers from his father ... but then immediately lost them again. Well, Peter. This is how you lose a place on the podium.
